R.W. Oliver, age 79, of Princeton, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at his home.
R.W. was born on April 24, 1945 at the Princeton War Memorial Hospital. R.W. was a respected teacher and administrator for twenty-seven years. He began his journey at Fredonia Schools before moving to teach at Butler in Princeton. R.W. would then move on to serve as vice principal and then principal of Caldwell County Middle School until his retirement. In 1986, he began coaching the Caldwell County Wrestling Team and would continue into the 1990’s. In his free time. R.W. enjoyed watching the L.A. Dodgers Baseball and the Dallas Cowboy’s Football. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. R.W. was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Princeton.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Mildred Anne Freeman Oliver; son RJ Oliver of Boone County, KY; three sisters, Linda (Tommy) Hamby of Caldwell County, Shirley Riley of Lyon County and Nita Oliver of Lyon County; four brothers, Roger Dale (Karen) Rushing of Union County, Gary A. Rushing of Crittenden County, David Lee Rushing of Caldwell County and Jerry Dean Rushing of Caldwell County; two grandchildren, Austin Dale Oliver of Boone County and Hailey Paige Oliver of Boone County.
R.W. is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Earl Oliver; mother and step-father, Maudeline Pinnegar Rushing and William Hardin Rushing; sister, Brenda Kay Rowland; four brothers, William Patrick Rushing, Hayse Pinnegar, Carl Edward Oliver and Harold Dane Oliver.
Visitation for R.W. Oliver will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church in Princeton with Bro. Dean Ray and Bro. Jeff Boone officiating. Burial will follow in Fredonia Cemetery.
