Jon Pettit of Princeton was sworn in as the city’s newest police officer Tuesday morning. Deputy City Clerk Jenny Clark administered the oath during a ceremony at City Hall.

After serving his third term, Pettit retired as the Caldwell County Jailer on September 30, 2022. He ran for the Caldwell County Sheriff’s position in 2022 but was defeated by the current sheriff, Don Weedman.

Pettit’s career in law enforcement began with the Cadiz Police Department in 1997 and he soon returned to Caldwell County in 2003 as a deputy sheriff before becoming the jailer.

He most recently joined the Dawson Springs Police Department after serving as a deputy with the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office.
