School bus drivers in Kentucky must hold a CDL with passenger, air brake, and a School Bus Driver endorsement to transport students.
They also have to be certified by the Kentucky State Department of Education and to maintain their certification they must attend an 8-hour update yearly to continue to transport students. Each school district is responsible for providing that 8-hour update to the drivers employed in their district. Even with school just being completed for a few days the Caldwell County bus drivers returned to the classroom to obtain their 8-hour recertification on Friday, May 31st. The course was held in the district school bus garage located on Young Street in Princeton. Caldwell County District Transportation Director Dustin Cash shared some of the training involved during the day.
