Caldwell County Special Olympics Athletes Shine in Richmond

The Caldwell County Special Olympics athletes enjoyed a triumphant weekend at the state competitions in Richmond, securing a total of 20 medals.

Roy Gene Rogers told WPKY’s News Edge that a group of seventeen athletes and nine adults departed from Princeton on Friday morning, traveling by bus to Richmond for the competition.

He mentioned that the competition resumed on Saturday morning at 8:00, with events taking place every 10 to 15 minutes. Rogers shared that their athletes performed exceptionally well.

According to Rogers, they had an incredible time in Richmond. He mentioned that the athletes attended a dance and visited the memorial of a Princeton native and law enforcement officer who was tragically shot in line of duty in 2022.
