On Thursday, Governor Andy Beshear announced that $8.5 million will be allocated to 12 projects across Kentucky, including Caldwell County, to enhance community facilities.

During his Team Kentucky Update, Governor Beshear announced that the Caldwell County Fiscal Court, in collaboration with the George Coon Public Library, will utilize $750,000 to construct a new multipurpose learning and performance center at the rear of the library. This new addition will include a large meeting area with partitions to accommodate multiple events simultaneously. It will also feature a computer lab and an auditorium with theater-style seating.

Beshear stated that the funding is from Kentucky’s Community Development Block Grant – Community Projects (CDBG-CP) program administered by Kentucky’s Department for Local Government.

According to Beshear, a total of over $29.7 million in CDBG-CP funding has been approved since 2020. These funds have been utilized to construct and enhance fire stations, community centers, and food pantries throughout Kentucky.
