A former employee with the Public Defender’s Office was indicted this month on multiple counts of forgery and theft.

The Caldwell County Grand Jury returned a true bill on Jacqualine Nichole White, of Princeton, on charges of official misconduct, eight counts of forgery, eight counts of unlawful access to a computer, and eight counts of theft by deception under $10,000. The grand jury returned a no true bill on 51 counts of forgery and 51 counts of unlawful access to a computer and the charges were dismissed.

White, a former administrative specialist for the Public Defender’s Office, is accused of accessing state computers to fraudulently submit travel vouchers on 59 different occasions between April and November of 2023, totaling more than $7,000. Princeton Police reported that the investigation revealed that White submitted the travel vouchers and gained compensation without actually traveling by unlawfully accessing computers and forging a supervisor’s name.
