Drivers need to be aware the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans daytime blockages of a section of KY 109 in Hopkins County this week to allow crews time to safely remove debris left over from the Memorial Day weekend tornado.

The closure will be from KY 1220/Olney Road to Daylight Road at the old Charleston School, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Officials say state transportation crews from multiple counties have been working steadily since the tornado on May 26 to remove debris from Hopkins County, but heavy traffic flow along KY 109 have hindered efforts along this stretch of roadway.

Drivers are asked to pay attention to traffic control signage and watch for workers in and near work zones. There will be no marked detour.
