Tim Bush had a unique first day at work Monday morning, when he stepped inside the halls of the Caldwell County Regional Career Center not as a spectator, but as its leader.
Now official, the former Trigg County High School Principal was about to be the Trigg County Schools Director of Transportation in Cadiz, when a chance to continue leading students at the next level became available in Princeton.
It’s an opportunity, he said, he couldn’t let pass by him.
Those five districts — Caldwell, Trigg, Crittenden, Lyon and Dawson Springs — are very familiar to him. More than 50 students this incoming semester are Wildcats, and his days of coaching put him in touch with so many others.
He steps into a position left vacant by Zach Thomas, who after one year opted to return to Lyon County as its high school principal.
Over those 12 months, Bush noted Thomas left things in great shape, and ready for more success.
During his time at Trigg County, Bush was involved with career tech and vocational opportunities, as well as general education.
As such, he said this isn’t unfamiliar territory.
A native of Trigg County, he worked for his hometown district the past 13 years.
His wife, Chrissy, has worked in education for nearly two decades, and currently serves as an adult education outreach specialist for the West Kentucky Educational Cooperative. They have three children — Tyson, Rylee and Reese.
His sister, Melissa Thomas, currently serves as principal for the Caldwell County Elementary School. His other sister, Trina, is a teacher, and is married to Kentucky State Police trooper Nathan Clinkenbeard.
