Fredonia Native Spotlighted as First-Year Resident at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville

A Fredonia native was recently featured as a resident spotlight at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville.

Hospital officials said Dr. John Reid Baker is a first-year resident in their Family Medicine Residency program.

Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville shared in a social media post that Dr. Baker’s hometown is Fredonia. He received his undergraduate training at Murray State University and attended medical school at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.

Baker said he chose Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville because of the area that they operate within and the patient care that they provide. He stated that his career goals are that he hopes to stay in this part of the state and have a traditional physician experience. He added, that things change, but he enjoys the clinic, ED, and hospital medicine and sees himself doing a bit of each in a small and rural area.

Dr. Baker also mentioned that the best part about living in Madisonville is being close to his family and friends again.

According to hospital officials, the Familly Medicine Residency clinic is home to 18 physicians serving patients of all ages. They follow their patients in the hospital and at several local nursing home facilities. They also offer evening appointments twice per month.
