United Way of the Coalfield Organizes Golf Scramble to Benefit Local Nonprofits

The United Way of the Coalfield is organizing a golf scramble to raise funds for nonprofit organizations in Caldwell, Hopkins, and Muhlenberg counties.

Executive Director Ashley Alexander, a Princeton resident, explained to WPKY News Edge that Caldwell County was originally served by the United Way of Hopkins County, which is now known as The United Way of the Coalfield.

click to download audioAlexander said that the upcoming golf scramble is currently the sole fundraiser for the United Way of the Coalfield. She said it will be held on Friday, August 23, at the Madisonville Country Club.

click to download audioShe further noted that they have sponsors for additional prizes, which will be awarded for the longest drive and other similar games.

Alexander shared how to register or be a sponsor of the golf scramble.

click to download audioShe stated that the funds raised will be distributed to non-profits in the three counties served by the organization.

click to download audioAlexander is asking teams to register by August 19 but added that they will not turn anyone away if spots are still available after that date.

According to Alexander, the United Way of the Coalfield most recently distributed funds after the disasters in Hopkins and Muhlenberg counties, including to Dawson Springs.

Alexander mentioned that she has been in touch with the food bank in Caldwell County and is excited about working with them with any future needs.
