Jean A. Luttrell, a cherished matriarch and respected community member, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center in Calvert City, KY. Born on October 4, 1930, in Ohio County, KY, Jean’s life was a testament to her kindness, dedication, and loving nature.
Jean’s journey began as the daughter of Archie D. and Della Bartlett Hoover, growing up in the rolling hills of Kentucky. Her early years were filled with the warmth of family and the strong bonds of community. She carried these values throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone she met.
In her professional life, Jean was known for her commitment and leadership as a manager at the Sears Department Store, where she worked for over 30 years. Her work ethic and kind demeanor made her a beloved figure among her colleagues and customers alike. Jean’s influence extended beyond her professional endeavors as she was a dedicated member of Ogden Memorial Church, where she served faithfully until her health no longer permitted.
Jean’s love story with her late husband, Ancil T. Luttrell, was one of mutual respect and deep affection. Together, they built a life filled with joy and purpose, a legacy that continued to flourish through their family. Jean was a loving mother to David (Susan) Fields of Calvert City, and she took immense pride in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren, Bradley (Amber) LeCompte, Blake Shifter, Alexa (J.D.) Shelton, and Alyson Fields, as well as her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Baylee, Peyton Shelton, and Alex LeCompte, will forever cherish the memories and lessons she imparted.
Jean’s family circle included her cherished sisters-in-law, Marie Hoover of Columbus, IN, and Ginger Hoover of Georgia, as well as several nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly for her kindness and gentle spirit. Her life was a beacon of love and generosity that extended to all who knew her.
Preceding Jean in death were her beloved husband, Ancil T. Luttrell; her parents, Archie D. and Della Bartlett Hoover; her sister, Zelma Rae Brooks; and her brothers, Robert, Jay, Dalton, and Ron Hoover. Her departure marks the end of an era for the Luttrell and Hoover families, but her legacy of kindness and compassion will live on through the generations.
