Caldwell Grand Jury Issues Indictments for Endangerment and Drug Trafficking

The Caldwell County Grand Jury returned several indictments this month including on charges of wanton endangerment and drug trafficking.

A true bill was returned on Dawson James Teague of Princeton on charges of fleeing or evading police, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and three counts of wanton endangerment.

The charges stem from July 13 after a pursuit involving the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office when a deputy tried to stop Teague for speeding on KY 293 South at Jo Jones Road. However, police said Teague failed to stop and a pursuit ensued that continued on KY 293 South reaching speeds over 100 mph. The pursuit reportedly ended when Teague stopped in the parking lot of Ms. Piggy Pig’s BBQ where he was taken into custody.

A true bill was returned on Kelsey Ford, whose address is unknown, on possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled substance prescription not in proper container, persistent felony offender, trafficking in a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance. The charges are in connection to an incident on August 14.

John Russell Cail of Reynolds, Georgia was indicted on charges of possession of meth, possession of a handgun b a convicted felon, DUI, and two misdemeanor offenses from an incident on July 26.

Tammy Phelps of Princeton was indicted on a single charge of receiving stolen property under 10,000. The indictment alleges that between February 1 and May 31, Phelps received, retained, or disposed of the movable property of another knowing that it had been stolen. According to the indictment, the value of the property was in excess of $1,000 but less than $10,000.

The grand jury indicted David Oliver of Princeton on charges of theft of a motor vehicle registration plate/renewal decal, non-dealer who procured dealer plats to evade taxes, and persistent felony offender.

The charges stem from an investigation into a traffic stop on May 30 where Princeton Police reported Oliver was driving a vehicle bearing a Kentucky dealer’s plate that had been stolen from a vehicle belonging to Allen’s Auto Sales in Christian County.
