Authorities say alcohol is a possible factor in a head-on collision on US 62 in Lyon County Friday evening that left four people injured, with two of the victims flown to hospitals.
Lyon County Sheriff Brent White reports deputies were sent to the crash around 6:30 p.m. on U.S. 62, just east of Suwanee.
He says the preliminary investigation revealed 43-year old Robert Fredianelli of Kuttawa was eastbound on US 62 when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound vehicle driven by 37-year old Leigh Oliver of Corydon. Deputies said Oliver had two passengers in her vehicle, 36-year old Leslie Powell and 37-year old Kendi Martin, both of Waverly.
According to Sheriff White, all four occupants in both vehicles were severely injured in the collision and had to be extricated by the Eddyville and Kuttawa Fire Departments. He said two of the victims were flown to out-of-state hospitals.
Sheriff White said alcohol is a suspected factor in the collision and charges are pending as the investigation continues.
Caldwell County, Lyon County, and Marshall County EMS crews also assisted law enforcement on the scene.
