The Caldwell County Fiscal Court approved a change order for the courthouse renovation project and addressed key documents related to the Princeton library’s expansion project.
At Tuesday morning’s meeting, magistrates unanimously approved a change order with Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. for nearly $7,300 regarding the courthouse lintels, as explained by Judge-Executive Kota Young.

In other new business, magistrates approved several documents related to the George Coon Public Library expansion project, including the Kentucky Community Development Block Grant Procurement Code, the Title VI Statement of Assurance, the Drug-Free Workplace Certification, and the Department of Local Government Assurance Letter.
In unfinished business, magistrates unanimously approved a contract addendum for Looks Great Services of Mississippi, Inc. to not exceed $450,000 unless agreed to in writing by both parties, following an inquiry from District 2 Magistrate Jeff Boone if this was related to the May tornado.
click to download audioBefore the regular fiscal court meeting, a public hearing was conducted to gather feedback from property owners about proposed road discontinuances from the county’s road system totaling approximately 6 miles. For about an hour, magistrates listened to concerns and addressed questions from those impacted by the discontinuances on David Merrick Road, Kenneth Winn Road, Lillard Watson Road, R White Road, Cordie Friar Road, Evans Mill Road, Phillips Drive, and a specified section of Archery Club Road.
No comments were made regarding the discontinuances of Clyde Coleman Road, Crider Spur Road, Sycamore Drive, Vinson Farm Road, Roberts Road, Shelby Lamb Road, Ed Campbell Road, Jo Jones Spur Road, LR Crow Road, Booker Lake Road, and DR Adams Road.
Magistrates also received a viewer report from appointed viewers Rick Blackburn, former Judge-Executive Larry Curling, and County Road Supervisor David Waldrum, who inspected the proposed roads for discontinuance and reported on potential inconveniences.
During the public hearing, Young outlined the process moving forward now that the Fiscal Court has conducted two public hearings and received the Viewers Report.
