Donald “Hut” Inglis, 87, of Dawson Springs

Donald “Hut” Inglis passed away peacefully at his home on December 12, 2024, at age of 87. Born on May 28, 1937, in Hopkins County, Hut’s life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and service.

Hut’s early years in Dawson Springs laid the foundation for a life characterized by intelligence and adventure. He met and married the love of his life, Gleora Poe Inglis. The legacy of their love continued through their family, including their daughters Jahn Smiley and her husband, Chris, of Dawson Springs, Lori Lockhart and her husband, Curt, of Eddyville, and Lois S. Inglis of Dawson Springs. Hut’s role as a grandfather was one he enjoyed. His grandchildren, David Smiley, Kristin Merrill, Kayla Woodfork, Keila Shultz, Kelly Bugg, and Wes Purdy, as well as his 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Professionally, Hut was a respected figure in the banking industry. His leadership extended beyond the financial sector to his involvement in the community as a volunteer fireman. He also served as a board member for the Dawson Springs School System, treasurer for the city, and Officer of Rosedale Cemetery.

Hut’s loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and various water sports. Hut was a member of the First Christian Church of Dawson Springs.

Hut was preceded in death by his wife, Gleora, and his parents, Amos Hustler Inglis and Baden Cullen Inglis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dawson Springs Educational Scholarship Foundation, 118 E. Arcadia Avenue, Dawson Springs, KY 42408.

Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 14, 202,4 at 1:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Winfrey. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY

Morgan’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
