Caldwell County Students Add Color to Winter Roads with ‘Paint the Plow’ Program

As recent winter weather blanketed the region with ice and snow, you might have noticed a splash of color on the roads, courtesy of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Paint the Plow program and some Caldwell County High School students.

District 2 spokesman Matt Hughes from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet recently expressed his excitement for the agency’s program, where talented high school students have turned a few state transportation snow plow trucks into vibrant moving canvases.

He explained that the painting design for the snow plow blades must receive approval from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

He mentioned that this year’s program featured five snow plows painted by students from five different high schools across four counties in District 2.

Regarding road conditions during winter storms, Hughes advises residents to contact the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet rather than Dispatch or local police.
