City Council Advances Zoning Regulations for Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

The Princeton City Council advanced zoning regulations for medical cannabis dispensaries during Monday night’s meeting.

Following sponsorship by a council member, City Attorney Todd Wetzel presented a summary of the medical cannabis zoning ordinance, which outlines the establishment of dispensaries in the city.

click to download audioWetzel noted that only one vote was needed for approval, as the ordinance was recommended by the Princeton Planning Commission. The ordinance passed unanimously with a 5-0 vote, as Councilman Brian Conger was absent from the meeting.

In other new business, Mayor Brock Thomas sought the Council’s input on addressing the fallen limbs left by this month’s ice storm. He noted that he does not anticipate the City being eligible for reimbursement for their removal, unlike in the past.

He mentioned that Public Works had offered their assistance and stated he would update the Council next month on the City’s plan.

click to download audioThe Council approved the reappointment of Paul Hooks to both the Princeton Planning Commission and the Princeton Board of Adjustments, with terms expiring on October 1, 2027. They also approved the appointment of Ty’Quan Bumphus to the Princeton Planning Commission, with a term ending on October 1, 2027, and the reappointment of Councilman Jim Joiner as the City Council representative to the Princeton Electric Plant Board, with a term set to expire on September 1, 2026.
