Crittenden County Judge-Executive Perry Newcom announced Friday that the Ohio River Ferry Authority and operators of the Cave-in-Rock Ferry have secured another licensed pilot and will resume regular operating hours beginning Saturday.
The ferry will resume its regular operating schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. seven days a week, with the last run from the Illinois side at 9:40 p.m., and the last run from the Kentucky side at 9:50 p.m. Officials said exceptions to this schedule may be made due to weather and river conditions.
The Cave-In-Rock Ferry links KY 91 with IL Route 1, spanning the Ohio River between Crittenden County, Kentucky, and Hardin County, Illinois.
An independent contractor manages the Cave-In-Rock Ferry and receives joint funding from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Illinois Department of Transportation, facilitated through a ferry authority.
