The annual local speaking contest for the Caldwell County High School FFA Chapter was held Thursday afternoon in the agriculture classrooms at the high school.
This contest allows students to choose an agriculture topic to deliver a prepared speech in 17 different areas. Each speech is delivered in front of a panel of judges with the judges being allowed to ask the speakers questions not known to the contestants before the contest. When the speech and questions are completed the judges rank the speakers in each contest.
Caldwell FFA President Daniel Laurent said this gives many local FFA members a chance to showcase their knowledge in different agriculture areas.
