Robert P. Teufel, born on December 31, 1957, in Peoria, Illinois, left our world on February 21, 2025. Robert’s life was one marked by steadfast dedication, tender-heartedness, and joyous adventure, traits that echoed through his every action and relationship.
The cherished husband to Janet I. Driver Teufel for 47 remarkable years, Robert’s commitment to his family was unparalleled. He was a guiding light and father to three adoring sons: Robert S. Teufel of Fredonia, Scott P. Teufel, with his wife Marissa Lee, of Benson, IL and Derric Teufel, alongside his wife Brooke, of Roanoke, IL. Robert’s legacy continues through the laughter and love of his several grandchildren, whom he adored fishing with during the times when he wasn’t sharing stories or imparting life wisdom.
Born to parents William Fredrick Teufel and Delores Delight Patterson Teufel, Robert was predeceased by his sister, Kathy Teufel. He is also survived by his two brothers, William Teufel of Germantown, IL, and Tom Teufel of Pekin, IL, alongside several nieces and nephews. Each family member, near or far, knew the comfort of Robert’s kindness and the strength of his character.
Robert was a proud Engineer Operator with Union 649, where he was a heavy equipment operator for R. Gingerich.
His dedication to community service was exemplified in his 30 years with the Roanoke Fire Department of Roanoke, IL. Robert was also a proud member of the American Legion of Roanoke, IL, where his contributions were many and his presence a source of stability and reverence.
Robert reveled in the great outdoors, exploring the world from the seat of his motorcycle, the deck of a camping chair amidst the trees, or a 4-wheeler with mud splattered joyously up the sides. His passion for life’s simple pleasures was infectious, and his enthusiasm to tackle the road less traveled was inspiring. These moments spent in nature were among his most treasured, often turned extraordinary by the company of his beloved family and friends.
Robert’s life was not just a series of events but a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of love, loyalty, and laughter. His story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved, a narrative of a man who was as steadfast as he was soft-hearted. As we bid farewell to Robert P. Teufel, we carry forward the imprints of his kind deeds, his love for adventure, and his unwavering commitment to family and community.
