A Resolution to protect the county taxpayer by supporting the restoration, renovation, and conversion of the historic Butler Building into the new Caldwell County Judicial Center will be considered by community organizations and the subject of future public meetings.

According to the Resolution, the Butler Building would be converted into the new Caldwell County Judicial Center, if approved by the State, and house the Circuit Court, District Court, and Circuit Court Clerk, which are currently located in County-taxpayer owned and maintained properties in the Caldwell County Courthouse and Courthouse Annex,

The Caldwell County Schools Alumni Association, Inc. shared on social media that this opportunity “will ensure the Butler Building stands proudly in the heart of our community for another century, as it has for the century past,” and can save the County taxpayer money at the same time.

According to the Alumni Association, Judge-Executive Kota Young presented the Resolution to its members and will present it to other groups and organizations over the coming weeks.

WPKY’s News Edge reached out to Judge Young regarding the Resolution Thursday afternoon. While he chose not to comment, he did confirm that the information within the Resolution was accurate and mentioned that more details would be shared in the coming weeks.

WPKY’s News Edge obtained a copy of the draft resolution (below)Thursday afternoon  which provides a more detailed explanation of the situation.
