City Council Honors Princeton Police Officer With Life-Saving Medal

Princeton Police Chief Chris King and Officer John Hibbs

A local police officer was recognized at the Princeton City Council meeting Monday night and presented a medal for his life-saving efforts last month after responding to an emergency call.
Chief Chris King presented the medal to Officer John Hibbs after he responded to a 911 call shortly before 5:30 on the afternoon of March 16th on Cave Street where he provided medical assistance on a man until the Caldwell EMS arrived on the scene.

Princeton Mayor Kota Young

During unfinished business, Council unanimously approved an amended text ordinance pertaining to a recommendation from the Planning Commission regarding set back requirements for billboards installed by businesses within the city limits.


click to download audioThat was Mayor Kota Young who explained after the Council voiced their concerns regarding the negative impacts of billboards on surrounding businesses, they compromised.


click to download audioCity Council unanimously approved the ordinance on first reading by a 5-0 vote with councilwoman Morgan Rousseau absent from the meeting.

In new business, the Council approved a short-term property transfer of .062 acres on McNary Street to the Industrial Development Authority. Mayor Young said this would allow IDA to apply for a state grant to make major improvements to the infrastructure in that area.
The next Princeton City Council meeting will be Monday afternoon, May 3, at 5:00. Anyone who would like to address the council at that meeting should call the City Clerk at (270) 365-9575 the Monday prior to the meeting to be added to the agenda.
