The Caldwell County Animal Shelter is facing many needs after the recent tornado.
Animal Shelter Director Jamie Whalen thought the shelter did not sustain any damage, but was proven wrong.
The shelter’s propane tank that heats the facility had a leak and lost all of its natural gas. The shelter needs people to help dry laundry, as their dryer runs on natural gas.
Whalen warned the community to be on the lookout for people pretending to be rescue crews and stealing dogs.
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department caught the people responsible for the crime and was able to return the dog back to its owner.
As for this week, Whalen said a Louisville shelter will be taking dogs that were in the shelter before the tornado to make room for additional animals. The Caldwell County Animal Shelter is boarding dogs free of charge for those who suffered storm damage.
