During Monday night’s meeting, the Caldwell County School Board approved a tentative budget that includes a significant pay increase for all employees in the district.
According to Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach, the tentative budget is $22.8 million which includes a 5% pay increase for all employees. The board also approved the salary schedule with the pay increase and changes to the food service department budget.

The board also approved covering the student food debt for approximately $2,167. Dr. Roach explained that this payment is expected to be the final step in the food service program audit conducted by the Kentucky Department of Education.
click to download audioThe board also approved a quote of $144,450 to purchase 450 Chromebooks, which will replace the older models.
In other action, Dr. Roach presented a request from the Future Business Leaders of America, or FBLA, for two $1,500 stipends.
click to download audioThe request was approved, with Board Chair Tim Kennaday adding to the motion that the board will revisit the FBLA stipends annually. Additionally, he said the organization must attend the three conferences and trips the board has approved.
The board also approved a Capital Funds request of $35,000 for mulch for the primary and elementary schools.

They presented the Tiger Testimonial Award for May and a plaque to Corbin Nichols, who has served as the student board member for the past year.
