In addition to honoring several students for their accomplishments Monday night, the Caldwell County school board gave special recognition to a bus driver who Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach said went above and beyond the call of duty.
You may recall the Princeton Police Department reported an incident on a school bus last month when officers said an intoxicated woman managed to board the bus through the back door and was acting strangely and talking nonsense. Police said the bus driver radioed for assistance, stopped the bus, and positioned himself between the woman and the students on board. Police also noted that the woman was seen with a folding knife, which she had taken out before she exited the bus.
During Monday night’s meeting, Dr. Roach honored the bus driver, JD Wilson.

Following the recognitions, the school board proceeded with its agenda and approved the working budget of $23.4 million for the fiscal year 2025.
The board also approved free online tutoring services for students with Varsity Tutors.
